Coupa has introduced Coupa Compose and Coupa Catalyst, an Agentic-as-a-Service bundle that provides tools to build, orchestrate, and connect AI agents on its spend management platform. The announcement was made at the Inspire 2026 event in Las Vegas.
What Coupa Compose does
Coupa Compose is a unified environment for creating and managing a digital workforce of AI agents across procurement, finance, and supply chain workflows. It includes three main components:
- Navi Agent Studio (generally available May 2026): A no-code interface using natural language to build and configure custom agents. It also provides monitoring and role-based access control.
- Smart Intake & Orchestration: A single entry point for all intake requests that triggers end-to-end process fulfillment using relevant agents and systems, with human intervention where needed. It preserves business context within Coupa's system of record.
- Navi Connect: Connects third-party agents and systems, enabling agent-to-agent communication and complex actions like real-time ERP updates. Third-party integration via MCP and A2A is expected in September 2026.
The agent fleet
Coupa has deployed over 20 specialized persona-based agents across its platform, powered by aggregated intelligence from Coupa's community data. The May 2026 release adds agents for Sourcing Event Creation, Bid Comparison, Risk Sentinel, Sanctions Risk, Autonomous Opportunity Analysis, and Scenario Ranking. Coupa claims these agents can reduce setup time by 40% and identify millions in hidden efficiencies.
Coupa Catalyst: AI transformation services
Coupa Catalyst is a set of AI transformation services designed to help customers deploy agentic AI. It includes Forward-Deployed Engineers (FDEs) and business solution architects who work alongside customers to implement the technology and optimize processes. The goal is to bridge the gap between product capability and actual business outcomes.
Pricing model
Coupa Compose uses an outcome-based pricing model. Specific pricing tiers or per-agent costs were not disclosed in the announcement.
Bottom line
Coupa Compose and Catalyst aim to reduce the complexity of deploying autonomous spend management agents by providing a no-code builder, orchestration hub, and integration layer on a single platform. The inclusion of transformation services and outcome-based pricing suggests Coupa is targeting enterprises that need hand-holding to move from AI pilots to production. The real test will be whether the claimed efficiency gains hold up in practice, and how well Navi Connect handles third-party integrations once available in September 2026.
