Xos, Inc. (NASDAQ: XOS) has announced its participation in the 2026 Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) Commercial Capabilities Showcase, taking place May 13 and 14 at the Louisiana Tech Academic Success Center in Bossier City, Louisiana. The company will demonstrate its Charger Hub, a mobile DC fast-charging unit designed to power electric ground-support vehicles without requiring permanent grid infrastructure.
What the Charger Hub does
The Charger Hub is a fully integrated mobile DC fast-charging unit that delivers high-power EV charging without utility upgrades, trenching, permits, or construction. It is towable by a standard pickup truck and fully relocatable, making it suitable for power-constrained facilities, remote field deployments, and emergency response scenarios where fixed infrastructure is not feasible. The unit is available in multiple configurations: 210, 420, and 630 kWh. It is designed in California and manufactured in Tennessee, and is Buy American compliant. It is accessible through government procurement vehicles including GSA, Sourcewell, and OMNIA Partners.
How it works
The Charger Hub replaces diesel generators with battery packs and bidirectional DC fast-charging. It has been deployed at over 100 sites globally. The system sidesteps the $2 million to $5 million per-site grid-upgrade cost that has historically stalled military fleet electrification.
The AFGSC Showcase
Xos is one of 17 finalists selected through a multi-stage evaluation from a broad pool of commercial technology applicants nationwide. At the showcase, Giordano Sordoni, COO and Co-Founder of Xos, will present the technology directly to a panel of AFGSC judges and senior decision-makers. The live outdoor demonstration will include real-time DC fast charging of an EV vehicle.
Strategic significance
According to CEO Dakota Semler, the Charger Hub was built to solve the problem of fleets needing power without waiting months for infrastructure. The AFGSC Showcase validates that the same technology powering commercial fleets is ready for national defense. This represents a new growth vector for Xos beyond the commercial fleet market it has served since 2018.
Bottom line
Xos is demonstrating that mobile EV charging can work for military operations without the cost and delay of grid upgrades. The Charger Hub is already commercially proven at over 100 sites, and the AFGSC Showcase is a step toward broader defense adoption.
