Blink Charging has integrated its nationwide EV charging network with Emobi’s unified roaming platform, JustPlug, enabling seamless access across multiple charging applications, fleet systems, and automaker platforms. The collaboration connects Blink’s more than 56,000 networked EV charging ports to Emobi’s API-driven infrastructure, allowing drivers to initiate charging sessions without switching apps or managing separate accounts.
Overview
The integration is designed to reduce friction in the EV charging experience by leveraging Emobi’s data normalization and roaming capabilities. Blink’s charging infrastructure spans multifamily housing, campuses, workplaces, fleet depots, and public locations. With Emobi’s platform now supporting access to these chargers, users can authenticate and pay through existing automotive OEM apps, fleet management platforms, or third-party charging applications without additional setup.
Emobi’s JustPlug technology enables automated Plug&Charge functionality compliant with ISO 15118 standards, but without requiring hardware upgrades or firmware changes on existing chargers. This allows backward compatibility with both DC fast chargers and Level 2 stations across Blink’s network.
What it does
- Enables EV drivers to use Blink chargers through any Emobi-connected app or platform
- Supports fully automated authentication and payment via JustPlug
- Eliminates need for multiple accounts or manual payment at Blink stations for Emobi-integrated users
- Allows fleet operators to streamline access across mixed charging networks
- Uses API-level integration; no hardware or firmware modifications required
Emobi currently integrates with over 160,000 chargers across the U.S. and Canada and serves more than 50 enterprise customers. The company is backed by Y Combinator and Florida Funders, and its technology is trusted by the U.S. Department of Energy and Department of Transportation.
The collaboration begins with a one-year term and aims to increase charger utilization while simplifying access for end users. Blink states this is part of its broader strategy to integrate with leading EV ecosystem providers to improve accessibility and driver experience.
Tradeoffs
While the integration promises improved usability, it does not alter physical charger availability or reduce charging costs for end users. Access benefits are limited to drivers using Emobi-connected platforms. Users relying solely on the Blink app or non-integrated services will not experience changes in workflow. Additionally, real-world performance depends on the reliability of Emobi’s API and partner platform implementations.
When to use it
Fleet operators managing vehicles across diverse charging networks should evaluate Emobi integration to reduce onboarding complexity. Automakers and app developers seeking to expand charging access without direct network partnerships can leverage Emobi’s existing integration with Blink and other providers. Individual drivers benefit if their preferred OEM or fleet platform supports Emobi’s roaming services.
Blink Charging and Emobi did not disclose pricing terms or specific rollout timelines beyond the initial one-year agreement period.
